I know it’s been much quieter on the ‘Cakery’s social media in recent months, and I haven’t run Afternoon Teas for quite a while, so I just want to update you all with the reasons why.
As some of you are already aware, in the summer I was finally diagnosed with ME which has been having a devastating impact on my daily life.
I already had Functional Neurological Disorder and Fibromyalgia which I’ve been trying to fight for the past three years – the FND causing some very significant, potentially life-threatening, seizures – and these had been difficult enough to deal with.
But my health has continued to deteriorate, which the ME diagnosis goes some way to explaining.
As a result, I have had to significantly reduce how much work I have been doing…but my ME specialist has said this isn’t good enough. I’ve been effectively ordered to stop working completely.
Having put every ounce of my energy, tireless effort, incredibly long hours, total dedication and complete love into The Vegan Cakery for over 13 years now, I have no option other than to take some time to try and hopefully begin improving.
It is the last thing I want to do, the thought and realisation breaks my heart as TVC is who I am and what I do.
Of course, the financial impact is going to be major as well so there is a lot of worry and concern tied in to this decision. But I don’t have any choice sadly.
So, after the existing (reduced) pre-Christmas deliveries are complete I will be pausing the ‘Cakery for a number of months, to try and improve my health to some degree.
I want to thank each and every one of you, from the bottom of my heart, for all your custom, kindness and friendship – especially those of you who supported the ‘Cakery from day one, and I truly hope I can be back baking for you sometime in the not too distant future.
Wishing you all love and light in the meantime.
Lots of love and warmest wishes,
Michelle xxx ❤️
